Smile :)

Smiling is one of the most positive things we can do!

Have you ever received a smile from a loved one or even a stranger as they passed you by on a walk or in the grocery store and felt bad? most of the time i’m willing to guess the answer is no. Receiving a smile lights us up and makes us feel good inside.

Perhaps at some point we are fearful of smiling to strangers because when we were younger some of us were taught that strangers can be dangerous, “don’t talk to strangers!”.

Or perhaps we are fearful that we will not get a smile back. Smiling is contagious though so chances are you will get a smile back! win/ win. I think it’s pretty safe to say a smiley world will produce much more good than bad. Don’t be afraid, smile :) It’s a simple thing that just might brighten someone’s day, your smile might be the first smile that person received all day….and if you don’t get a smile back, who cares on to the next!

Smiling at yourself is just as important! There is science behind this! The feel good neurotransmitters dopamine, endorphins and serotonin are all released when you wear a smile. This both relaxes your body, and can lower your heart rate and blood pressure. Smiling actually tells your brain “hey dude i’m feeling awesome, it’s all good”. If you are having a bad day and the last thing you feel like doing is smiling, just try smiling anyway… you’ll see how you can trick your brain and change your mood!

Each time you see your reflection in a mirror look into your eyes, into your soul and give it a smile! You’ll find more peace, gratitude and love for yourself!
