WHY MEDITATE? TRY THIS 7 DAY CHALLENGE!

Is Meditation for everyone?

Yes, yes it is!

I believe in the near future this question will be a given. Just as we know the importance of brushing our teeth or washing our hands.

Having said that...

Just because we KNOW something is good for us, doesn't necessarily GET us to actually do it!

We all know that exercise is important for our overall health and well-being. But many of us don't have the motivation and/or make the time to actually do it.

We all know that eating healthy is important for our overall health and well-being. But again, many of us don't have the motivation, know how or time to actually do it.

It is no surprise then that although many of us may understand that meditation has many health benefits and is in fact important for our overall health, will not equate to it actually being done by everyone.

I believe there are a number of reasons for this.

The main reason being that it is outside our comfort. We aren't really sure where or how to start, what we are doing or if we are doing it right. We feel like a rookie and we don't understand how it can benefit us.

So we come up with excuses or reasons why we don't have time for it, or why it is not for us.

Instead we would rather spend time doing something that gives us instant results, gratification, satisfaction etc.

We give up before giving it a real shot!

So for those lacking in the motivation department and/or are unwilling to do the things that you know will keep you healthy and therefore happy...

Here is the solution!

JUST DO IT!

ha ha ... okay Nike slogan.

But really, it's true.

This requires us to be uncomfortable for a little while. Just like when you start a new school, or new job there is a little period of awkwardness, insecurity, unfamiliarity etc before it becomes familiar and a bit more comfortable.

We just have to accept this and trust that a habit will start to form and it will become a little bit more effortless and as common as remembering to brush your teeth or wash your hands.

If you are looking to make healthier changes in your life. Start small. But make it consist! Allow a new habit to form in your life.

If you can get your mind on board with what you actually want, it will be a world of difference.

Practicing meditation and mindfulness will do just this!

You can start to observe your thoughts, become aware of the stories you tell yourself daily, and then choose to mindfully CHANGE those thoughts!

Meditating is something you can start doing TODAY, and only takes 5 minutes of your time. I think we can all afford 5 mins.

While in the beginning of your meditation practice, you will likely feel uncomfortable and awkward, just like starting a new school or job.

You will likely not see immediate results. In fact you may feel like it's a waste of time.

But trust me. Keep going. With a little patience, time and compassion, you will start to experience positive changes in your life.

It may even be the key to keep you motivated to do ALL of the other things you know are good for you, but don't make the time to do.

Start today! Below is the first of 7 videos for the 7 Day Meditation Challenge. All the other videos are on my youtube channel. Feel free to share the challenge and get friends and family to join you!
